EMLI COP30 Updates

As COP30 reached its conclusion for week 1 negotiations, EMLI demands seem to garner tracking.

  • Operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund was marked by the release of its first USD 250 million call for proposals.
  • The NCQG and 1.3T road map has been amplified by Kenya. Recommendations invites developed countries to consider working together on a delivery plan to achieve the $300 billion they are due to mobilize annually by 2035.
  • No progress was achieved in the first week on adaptation indicators, largely due to issues over the means of implementation. Negotiating groups from Africa, Latin America, and the Arab States intend to leverage the discussions on Global Goal on Adaptation indicators to advocate for greater financial support. Developing-country proposals for a new quantitative goal of either USD 120 billion (from the Least-Developed Countries) or USD 150 billion (Arab Group) a year by 2030.
