Programs
EMLI operates a number of cores programmes that define its programme of work and contribute to the global and national environment and climate change agenda. In each core programme, EMLI scales-up implementation of project activities aimed at addressing issues at hand and enhances capacity development. The core programme activities are envisaged to contribute to achieving specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Climate Change
The Climate Change programme aims at reducing vulnerability and building resilience to impacts of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing access to climate finance. EMLI addresses climate change through a threefold approach by supporting interventions that will contribute to reducing vulnerability and building resilience to impacts of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing access to climate finance.
Eco systems and Environment Management
The Ecosystems and Environment programme aims at empowering communities to sustainably manage their environment and natural resources. EMLI strives to ensure that economic growth is attained whilst natural resources providing resources and services sustainably. With focus on forests, wetlands, fresh water sources, oil and gas, extractives, and rangelands. Birds, Fisheries and Wildlife, etc.




Chemicals and Waste
The EMLI Chemicals and Waste programme aims at increasing capacity to environmentally sound management of chemicals and hazardous waste. EMLI continues to address chemicals and waste issues through building capacity for environmentally sound management practices.
Environmental Governance
The Environmental Governance programme aims at promoting and supporting the environmental basis for sustainable development. Environmental governance, both international and national is at cross roads.




Livelihood
In such for ways of sustaining the lives of communities that conserve the diverse natural resources, EMLI Livelihood Programme aims at harnessing natural capital for improved human well-being.
Majority of the people in Uganda rely on agriculture as the primary source of food and income, however, multiple shocks over time are exacerbating the vulnerability of poor communities.
